Treatment
I practice an integrated approach combining five element acupuncture, classical acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
I also use adjunct therapies and may incorporate these into your treatments; moxibustion, gua sha, tui na, acupressure and auricular acupuncture.
Moxibustion involves burning a herb called moxa above the skin to stimulate acupuncture points or channels and in turn, the flow of qi. Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique used to scrape the skin using a smooth-edged tool or roller. I tend to use a rose quartz roller or jade flat stone. Tui na is a massage technique that uses acupressure and other techniques to balance qi. Auricular acupuncture (ear acupuncture) is based on the theory that the ear is a microsystem representing the whole body with specific points corresponding to organs or anatomy. Auricular acupuncture can be particularly effective in the treatment of anxiety, addiction, chronic pain, insomnia and migraines.
